KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (25 October 2024) – Musically talented youth got to immerse audiences in the commanding power of their voices and instrumental artistry at the prestigious KZN Young Performers Concert hosted by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and the Durban Centre of the South African Society of Music Teachers (SASMT) at the Durban Playhouse.
The event showcases the top of KZN’s young musical talents affording them the amazing opportunity to perform live with Africa’s premier orchestra.
Performers under the age of 23 who are selected from auditions to perform on this platform are held in high regard and can experience the joy of making music with esteemed professionals.
Among the exceptional performers were three extraordinary students from Crawford International La Lucia.
Grade 11 student Weien Amy Luo mesmerized the crowd with her elegant rendition of Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No.5.
Xizhi Aiden Luo, a Grade 7 Preparatory student, showcased his dramatic prowess with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.19.
The youngest performer of the trio was Derren Hsu, a Grade 0 Pre-Primary student. His sweet rendition of Noona’s Little Concertino in C Major was a heartwarming reminder of the boundless potential of young musicians.
