Through a community-driven effort, the ReStory Foundation recently surpassed its original fundraising goal, to provide uniforms and stationery for orphaned and vulnerable children in Bhambayi, KwaZulu-Natal.
Bhambayi, South Africa (20 January 2025)—In 2024, the ReStory Foundation took on the challenge of raising money for uniforms and stationery for the shining stars who don’t have hope sponsors within the disadvantaged community of Bhambayi in KwaZulu-Natal.
With grateful hearts and motivated spirits, ReStory is overjoyed to share that not only were they able to raise these much-needed funds, but they even exceeded their R210,000 goal, raising a staggering R233,950 just in time for the back-to-school season!
Over and above generous donations, the Sizokwenza Challenge also involved the children of Bhambayi participating in running one kilometre for R1 every Friday afternoon from 25 October to 15 December.
“We are simply over the moon to report that MORE than the original goal was raised to enable us to support more children,” ReStory Foundation excitedly revealed.
“This is in huge part thanks to the Regents Harriers Running Club. We are so grateful to them, and to each generous individual who donated funds for this challenge. Thank you for building our nation, one child at a time.”
Thanks to this fundraising effort, over 80 orphaned and vulnerable children have been empowered to start their school year with confidence and the knowledge that there are people out there who believe in their potential to achieve greatness in all they put their minds to!
