Through its pad drives and educational talks, Save The Dignity of Our Girls in School is fostering a brighter, more equitable future where no girl is held back by a lack of basic necessities.

Merebank, South Africa (06 March 2025) – Being a teenage girl comes with a whirlwind of new experiences, pressures and changes.

Striving to make sure that those faced with the added pressure of challenging circumstances at home are able to stay in school with dignity, is the Save The Dignity of Our Girls in School non-profit organisation.

The organisation is built on the ethos that girls shouldn’t have to miss school because of their menstrual cycle and not being able to afford sanitary wear.

Last week, a team of volunteers did a sanitary pad distribution at Alipore Primary in Merebank. The pad drive also included speakers talking to the schoolgirls about the importance of feminine hygiene and the power of being a girl.

For charity founder Dr Roshni Naicker, every girl should stay in school, maintain their dignity, and pursue their dreams without interruption.

“Many young girls miss school due to a lack of access to sanitary products, which affects their education and confidence. By providing these essentials and educating them about feminine hygiene, we empower them to stay in school and build a brighter future. Every pack makes a difference in a girl’s life,” Naicker shared.

Save The Dignity of Our Girls in School has a sanitary wear donation box at Dr Kandasamy’s Surgery in Tomango Road Merebank for anyone interested in contributing towards this initiative.
