StreetSmart South Africa raises funds for street children projects through participating restaurants, accommodation establishments and wine tasting centres.
Johannesburg, South Africa (12 September 2022) – The beauty of StreetSmart is its simplicity. In a StreetSmart partner establishment, a small, elegant card informs patrons that a voluntary R5 will be automatically added to the bill.
If diners would like to add more – or none at all, they need to inform their waiter. Every cent of the funds raised through restaurants goes to the beneficiaries, and all of the operational costs of StreetSmart are sponsored.
The organisation has been operating since June 2005 under the founding patronage of Emeritus Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The restaurants, accommodation establishments and wine tasting centres in each town raise funds for their own community street children programmes.
And by participating, South Africans have made a massive difference in the last 17 years.
StreetSmart SA is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation as well as a Non-profit Organisation and ensures that every cent donated by guests goes towards social and educational upliftment projects for street children. StreetSmart’s goal is to be part of the process of social normalisation and to encourage the public not to give money into the hands of a child as this keeps them on the streets. In essence, donating to StreetSmart, where you eat, sleep, taste and enjoy, is the responsible way to help a street child.
StreetSmart invites more businesses to become fundraising partners, to make a real, long-term difference in the lives of street children. You can register or get more information by clicking here.
