Baby rhino superhero, Mackenzie Knott, is currently taking on her fifth 13 Peaks Challenge in the Western Cape, battling sore calves and tough terrain to raise funds for essential milk to feed vulnerable rhino orphans.

Western Cape, South Africa (11 July 2025) – Following months of sore calves, early alarms, and more ice cream than any nutritionist would approve of, baby rhino superhero Mackenzie Knott has put in the training and is currently in the middle of her fifth attempt at conquering another epic 13 Peaks Challenge.

The 12-year-old is pushing herself to the limit once again, enduring a distance of 1,100km, an elevation of 7,000m and 13 of the most difficult peaks to climb in the Western Cape over six days for the little horned creatures closest to her big heart!

As an ambassador for Fit 4 Rhinos, Mackenzie is raising funds to buy much-needed milk for orphaned baby rhinos.

“My passion has always been the mountains and animals.

“And just like last year, I intend to make a difference by attempting my 5th 13 Peaks Challenge to raise R 20,000 for the Rhino Orphans as part of the #rememberthemilk campaign,” Mackenzie shares.

Fit 4 Rhinos is a fundraising initiative with a focus on fitness. Its main aim is to raise awareness and encourage engagement regarding the challenges faced by Rhino orphans in South Africa, who have been left parentless due to poaching or have been rejected by their mothers.

The #RememberTheMilk campaign is specifically aimed at supporting the Rhino Connect NPO, which supports and looks after 8,000 rhinos from private farm owners and reserves in South Africa, which include several rhino babies.

“We decided to focus our efforts on raising funds to procure milk and milk products for these little ones. The average rhino baby drinks between 2 and 3 six-packs of milk a day, hence our campaign hashtag #rememberthemilk,” shares Fit 4 Rhinos.

Mackenzie is currently just under R5,000 short of hitting her ultimate target.

You can support Mackenzie’s incredible efforts by donating on her GivenGain page or by following and sharing her journey on the Fit 4 Rhino’s Facebook page.

“Every drop counts and the more people know about my challenge, the better the chances of me reaching my target,” she kindly appeals.
