Afrika Tikkun’s Mr & Miss Ability 2026 competition is giving young South Africans with disabilities a platform to shine

Johannesburg, South Africa (20 July 2026)- Twenty young changemakers are ready to shine as Mr & Miss Ability 2026 finalists are announced.

Disability Pride Month is all about celebrating ability, breaking down stereotypes and recognising the incredible contributions of people living with disabilities. This July, Afrika Tikkun Foundation is doing just that through one of its most inspiring initiatives.

The organisation has officially unveiled the 20 finalists who will take to the stage for Mr & Miss Ability 2026 on 31 July in Johannesburg.

The event is held under the theme “Crowned in Ability” and gives young people living with disabilities a platform to showcase their confidence, talents, personalities and dreams while proving that ability comes in many different forms.

Each finalist brings a unique story. The one thing they have in common the courage to embrace who they are and inspire others along the way.

Afrika Tikkun says initiatives like Mr & Miss Ability are about creating spaces where inclusion, representation and empowerment take centre stage. The programme encourages self-expression while giving participants an opportunity to be recognised for their strengths and leadership.

As Disability Pride Month highlights the importance of embracing disability as part of human diversity, the event also serves as a reminder that every individual deserves to be seen, celebrated and given the chance to thrive.

The Mr & Miss Ability 2026 finalists will step onto the Johannesburg stage on 31 July, ready to show that confidence and ability deserve to be celebrated.
