A patient named Stella recently shared a heartwarming experience about a nurse named Mbulelo at a Fourways hospital. While Stella had been there before, this particular visit was different, thanks to Mbulelo’s exceptional care and compassion!
Fourways, South Africa (14 February 2025) – We don’t talk enough about how dedicated nurses have the power to make a stressful, or oftentimes scary, hospital stay just a little more bearable, if not entirely comfortable.
These healthcare providers work tiresome hours and often go out of their way to make sure patients are comfortable, well-informed of the different procedures they need to undergo and reassured that everything will be okay.
One of our readers, Stella, shared with the Good Things Guy team how she was touched by the care and compassion of a nurse named Mbulelo at Fourways Life recently.
While she had been at the hospital before, her recent trip to the emergency department was different – in the best way.
This time Stella’s path had crossed with Mbulelo’s, a young man she describes as one with a contagious smile and an even more infectious spirit.
“Mbulelo was with me for most of my visit, stepping away only when duty called. He didn’t just assist me; he took the time to really see me,” reflects Stella.
“He offered life advice, got to know me, and made me feel like I was the most important patient there. It might sound like just another good review, but it’s more than that—I haven’t stopped thinking about his kindness.”
Her encounter with this young man whose passion for helping others speaks for itself has had a lasting impression on her, an experience of unexpected kindness that has stuck with her since.
“He didn’t just care for my health—he celebrated my life plans, shared wisdom from his own journey, and reminded me what it feels like to be truly seen. To be treated as a person, not just a patient. I had almost forgotten what that felt like,” Stella says.
She highly recommends meeting Mbulelo to anyone who may find themselves at the hospital.
“People like him deserve to be recognised for their kindness and genuine care,” Stella says.
What a special nurse and an equally touching reminder of the power of kindness to greatly impact another person’s life!
