Born with a rare chromosome disorder, 13-year-old Tyler Jade Moran defines true strength, enduring a lifetime of medical trials with remarkable grace and an unstoppable spirit.

Merrivale, South Africa (31 October 2025) – Born with a rare chromosome disorder (Disorder of Sexual Development), 13-year-old Tyler Jade Moran has spent her life bravely enduring countless medical procedures, scans, MRIs, and a major 12-hour surgery – all with remarkable strength and grace.

In July last year, further genetic FISH chromosome testing revealed that Tyler is truly one of a kind, as shared by her mother, Hayley Moran.

“She has three sets of chromosomes running through her, making her not only extremely rare but, as far as we know, the first documented case in South Africa and even the world.”

Tyler’s parents have tried their level best to keep her story close to their hearts, wanting to protect her privacy and dignity.

“As parents, we’ve managed to cover all her medical costs up to this point, no matter how tough it’s been,” Hayley says.

“However, since November last year, my husband’s work came to an abrupt stop, and despite selling our cars and anything else we could to keep our medical aid going, we’ve now lost it.”

Following recent appointments with her surgeon and endocrinologist, it was found that Tyler urgently needs further testing on her major organs, ongoing hormone treatment and medication, and specialist follow-ups.

“Unfortunately, we’ve reached a point where we simply can’t afford it alone.”

Hayley has since launched a BackaBuddy campaign to help raise the funds needed for Tyler’s ongoing care.

Funds raised will go towards endocrinologist and surgical specialist appointments, blood tests and X-rays, monthly medication and injections and theatre and MRI costs.

Tyler is one of a kind: fearfully and wonderfully made, a bright, loving, resilient little girl who continues to inspire with her courage and joy.

“Every donation, big or small, will make a tangible difference in Tyler’s life. If you’re unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing her story to help us reach others who might be able to help,” appeals Hayley.
