The NCC Environmental Services established an all-female crew to help combat wildfires in the Western Cape, and SA can’t get enough of the sheroes!
Noordhoek, South Africa (1 February 2020) – The NCC Environmental Services is one of a kind in South Africa and their Wildfire crews are jam-packed with true heroes who brave danger whenever needed. Recently a fire flared in Noordhoek and NCC Wildfires deployed their all-female crew for the very first time.
It is currently wildfire season so the crew are always ready and waiting to head out to fight the fires. We are incredibly proud of the all-female crew and cannot wait to see their growth. The crew is named Team Juliet and they believe there is no gender role when it comes to fire!
These sheroes took on the blaze which flared up at 3:30 am above Kommetjie Vineyards. Then they all moved over to the Noordhoek Wetland Fire. Take a look at their efforts below.

One woman, Kylie Paul, has become the first woman from Africa to be invited to the WTREX in Virginia, United States. The event requires a fair bit of financial backing so Kylie turned to BackaBuddy for help. She has raised nearly 50% of what she needs to attend WTREX.
The skills taught at the convention will benefit not only Kylie and her crew, but also the Western Cape where fires are always sparking up!
You can help Kylie help South Africa here.
