Bryoni Govender held her head high at this year’s Miss Supranational pageant and walked away with two ‘crowns’ of her own as Miss Supranational Africa and Miss Friendship!

Global (08 July 2024) — Bryoni Govender walked one of the world’s most glamorous stages with pride over the weekend at this year’s Miss Supranational pageant in Poland and walked away with the impressive title of Miss Supranational Africa!

As one of the most publicised pageantry events in the world, the pressure was naturally felt on a much bigger scale. But for Bryoni (who has also represented South Africa in the Miss Universe pageant and won Miss SA as Natasha Joubert‘s runner-up in 2023), it was the kind of pressure that only made her sparkle even more.

Bryoni once again wore South Africa’s heart on her sleeve for an international audience—both in the leopard-printed garments that made up her national costume and through her delivery.

She made it to the pageant’s Top 12, which was soon followed by her own crowing moment as Miss Supranational Africa and Miss Friendship—making South Africa proud of our multi-faceted queen.

In a heart-touching response to her new titles and other achievements she’s earned in her life, Bryoni thoughtfully penned a letter to the person who’d most want to hear about it all—her younger self:

“Dear younger Bryoni, you are divinely created. But the world will make you feel less worthy because of your shade of skin. It will become your biggest insecurity. But keep going because this will also one day become your superpower.

“God has many blessings and gifts in store for you! You will become a lawyer and advocate for those who are yet to find their voice, and on 6 July 2024 you will boldly stand on a global platform fully embracing yourself and representing your country. So keep going.”
