widower

Louis Tomlinson, former One Direction band member, met an 83-year-old widower mourning his wife, so he cheered him up in the best way!

Yorkshire, United Kingdom – Louis Tomlinson lost his mother to leukaemia a few years ago, and it shook his world. Around the same time, retired taxi driver Richard lost his wife of 60 years to Alzheimer’s complications.

The pair met and bonded over their grief. When they got talking, Louis learned that Richard had created a bucket list before his wife passed, hoping to complete it before her death. He didn’t manage to complete the bucket list, and after his wife’s passing, he stopped doing the things on the list.

Louis was inspired by the widower and decided to help him complete some of the things on his bucket list. In a music video, the pair tackled the things on Richard’s list.

The music video is especially moving because of the song it showcases. Louis wrote the song for his mother to help him through the darkest moment in his life.

It is a beautiful song that had us well-up with tears. Richard too has a passion for singing and performed in several pubs and clubs over the years. He gave up his passion once his wife became ill, focussing all his time caring for her.

Together, they flew a helicopter, drove a race car, got a tattoo (well, Richard gave Louis a tattoo), went on a rollercoaster and the best part, Richard performed at one of Louis’s concerts in front of a massive audience.

“Richard is a classic example of a fearless man who in light of tragedy still pushes himself to live with as much laughter and happiness as possible.” – Louis Tomlinson

At the end of the music video, Louis encouraged fans to donate to Cancer and Alzheimer’s research in memory of their loved ones.
