Charity Begins With Me, an organisation based in Randburg, Johannesburg, is working to become takeaway compliant so children can still get daily meals.

Randburg, South Africa (29 June 2021) – “Charity Begins With Me” is preparing to take its feeding scheme to the next level by becoming compliant with the current lockdown regulations. They are asking for help in setting up their takeaway facility so children can still get vital meals.

Stephen Ferreira started ‘Charity Begins With Me‘ shortly after he was first diagnosed with cancer in 2016. He realised he could do so much more with the life he had left and quickly set up charity as a way to give back.

He has run the charity throughout his chemotherapy treatments, remission and sadly, his relapse. Whatever battles he faces in his own life, it is those of others that give him the strength to push through.

We have shared many of Stephen’s projects here on Good Things Guy and are always in awe of what he comes up with. Each month he is doing something new and empowering for disadvantaged people.

Time and time again, people have stepped forward to help. Now he needs more help, this time to keep doing what he is doing through the adjusted level 4 regulations. Takeaways are the only way to keep feeding the children. Stephan will continue to run his soup kitchen. However, each child will get their meal and head back home to eat it.

“Urgent appeal for plastic containers with lids!!
The President announcing new lockdown regulations last night has a huge effect on our feeding scheme and hundreds of children rely on the food we distribute. We simply cannot stop.
We urgently need ANY plastic containers with lids to send food home with the kids as we are not allowed to gather.
Please clean out your tupperware cupboard or buy a few inexpensive containers at Westpack next time you go shopping.
We will ask the kids to bring these back so that it can be used again and again.
Drop off in Fairland.
Please WhatsApp if you can help.

Stephan is also asking for help with plastic spoons, which the children will reuse each time they collect their next meal. You can find out more about how to help by reaching out to Stephan via WhatsApp or Facebook here.
