Driven by a deep passion for helping young people, Deborah Abrahams is giving children the tools to explore their true identity and walking alongside Matric learners on their path to achieving greatness.
Cape Town, South Africa (06 August 2025) – This Women’s Month, the Amy Foundation South Africa is celebrating and honouring its incredible female forces, one of whom is the purpose-driven Deborah Abrahams.
Driven by a passion for change and to see young people thrive, Deborah Abrahams joined the Amy Foundation in February 2025 as a Values, Self-Esteem & Teamwork (VST) facilitator. Introduced to the programme by her colleague, Deborah had known about the Foundation for years, but it was only when she joined that she truly felt the impact from within.
Her love for working with children shines through everything she does. She creates a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore their self-worth and potential. Her favourite part of the programme is the Self-Knowledge module, which encourages learners to ask, “Who am I really?” By helping them discover their identity and build self-belief, she is equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in the world.
Deborah’s dedication shines through her actions. From welcoming her students with warmth and ensuring they are fed, to organising special outings that bring smiles to their faces.
“Seeing the smiles on their faces when we take them to open days or special trips reminds me why I do this work,” she shares.
Deborah is currently mentoring several Matric learners, guiding them toward their futures, helping them prepare for their Matric ball and introducing them to the Amy Foundation Learning Channel – setting them on a course of self-belief and success.
“It’s a privilege to work with children. When you make a difference in their lives, you create a better future.”
Her five-year vision is to grow stronger and wiser in all she does at the Foundation in shaping a generation of resilient and empowered young people.
The Amy Foundation honours Deborah for being a light to the local youth.
“You are helping shape a generation of resilient, empowered young people. And that’s a legacy of true impact,” the organisation said.
