Seeing a suspect make off with a local’s car, Abedi didn’t hesitate; he dropped everything and gave chase to try stop the theft. By putting his life on the line, he once again proved why his community holds him in such high regard.

Johannesburg, South Africa (24 February 2026) – An honest and remarkably brave car guard in the Delta Park area has earned the praise of his community and beyond.

Known to many as Abedi, he reportedly put his life on the line while on the job, chasing down a suspect who had stolen a vehicle from a public car park.

Reporting on the incident she had witnessed, community member Tyla Wojciechowicz said she was at Bird’s Bagels on Saturday morning when she noticed a major commotion outside the car park.

“We saw the car guard sprinting like you have no idea, chasing someone who had just stolen a massively beautiful Toyota Land Cruiser. He ran as if his life depended on it!”

Tyla commended Abedi’s bravery and his willingness to assist the police and tracking company when they arrived on the scene.

Moved by the man’s dedication, Tyla further called for the community to unite and consider donating towards tactical gear for Abesi to wear for added protection while he watches over their vehicles.

“He is so passionate about keeping our cars safe. He currently has a Hybrid/Wood (golf club), and it really was completely ineffective while he took chase of the hijacker. It was truly amazing seeing him put himself on the line for our assets,” Tyla said.

The post, shared on the Delta Park – Johannesburg Facebook group, has garnered many likes and comments online, most of which have praised the car guard for fervently serving his community even in the face of danger.

“I have personally seen him stop three crimes. Top man and an asset to the community,” one person shared.

“Abedi is an absolute gem of a human being! He’s one of the highlights of visiting Delta,” another commented.

If this incident and commentary are anything to go by, Abedi is a true hero with the kind of bravery that has left us in awe. It is no wonder that his community holds him in such high regard.

We applaud this incredible man and are grateful for his safety.
