Moved by the compassion for rescue dogs, Leigh Newlands will embark on her biggest challenge yet – the 23km Ultra-Trail Cape Town to raise funds for TEARS Animal Rescue.
Cape Town, South Africa (02 October 2024) – There is truly something to admire about a person who is willing to trade the ease and comforts of their life for sacrifice and endurance out of pure compassion for those in need.
Stepping out of her comfort zone for a noble cause, Leigh Newlands is embarking on a challenging trail run. On 23 November, she’ll tackle the 23km Ultra-Trail Cape Town (UTCT) route, a distance far beyond her previous limits.
The proud pet parent of two rescue pups shared that she wants this personal challenge to count as more than just a personal milestone.
“I’m dedicating this run to a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart: animal rescue. As a proud pet parent of two rescue pups, I know firsthand the joy and love of giving these animals a second chance,” Leigh explained.
Funds raised by Leigh will go to TEARS Animal Rescue, an organisation that is dedicated to assisting vulnerable animals, rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming those who need it most. They do extraordinary work in giving animals a second chance at life.
“This cause is especially meaningful to me because one of our rescue pups, Banksy, came from TEARS. For every R500 donated, I’ll take on an extra obstacle on the trail, such as burpees, lunges or push-ups, and share it live on IG story.”
By supporting Leigh’s run, you’re doing more than helping her cross the finish line, but also giving animals in need the chance at a better future.
“If you believe in second chances (and that I can complete this run!), I’d love for you to be part of this journey,” Leigh shared.
