A homeless woman was aided by a Marshall Security officer after going into premature labour and giving birth to a healthy baby girl.
Durban North, South Africa (07 May 2021) – Marshall Security received a distress call in the early hours of this morning. The call notified the control room that a woman was screaming outside a house for medical assistance; the team arrived to find the woman in active labour.
Security officer Bradley Govender responded to the call and quickly jumped into action when he realised the baby was coming sooner than expected.
According to the report by Marshall Security, when the team arrived, the woman’s water had broken, and she was showing signs of imminent birth. Bradley managed to get her some water, and within a few minutes, he was holding a tiny baby girl.
“We immediately dispatched our Armed Reaction Officer to investigate as well as ambulance services to the scene. Upon arrival, our officer discovered the patient was in active labour and her water had broken. An off duty nurse from the community came to assist and the woman gave birth very soon after to a baby girl at 03h15 this morning.” – Marshall Security
Accrding to a report by The South African, one of the residents in the road was a nurse. She offered her assistance while the team waited for a local ambulance to arrive.
The paramedics arrived and did a full check on both mother and baby before taking them to a local hospital for further care. It has been confirmed that both mother and baby are in good health.
