‘We hope some day you will join us, and the world will live as one.’

Cape Town, South Africa (16 April 2026) – We love Michael. He hosts free yoga in the Mother City because he knows that moving our bodies has the power to improve almost every part of our daily lives. He also spends much of his free time spreading joy and compassion with others. We call him the Yogi of Kindness. Sometimes, the Wizard of Kindness.

He does it all selflessly, all for the greater good of people. He encourages others to do the same…because if he can spark a positive shift in perspective for someone, the next person can, too.

Michael reached out to us recently, telling us about another of his missions for good.

Right now, the world feels heavy, divided, and difficult. Countries are at war. The rising costs of living have most of us feeling like we’re scarily close to the end of our tethers. When emotions run high, we forget the virtues that can so easily make the world feel a little less like it’s spiralling in chaos.

It starts in the microcosm of our daily lives. Like choosing patience over reacting too quickly. Understanding over wanting to give that person in traffic a PK. Having enough empathy to realise there’s probably a much deeper ‘why’ behind xyz who just flew into you. They’re probably fighting a battle you don’t even know about. Most of us are fighting battles that others aren’t even vaguely aware of.

Michael’s message is peace, through all of it.

“The more I connect with nature and the more I listen deeply to the wisdom of my children, the more I notice how unwise the world has become…particularly those in positions of authority and power.” he says. “I am feeling more and more saddened and frustrated at how greed, power, ego and the lack of humanity have turned our world into a barbaric place that is now deeply divided and traumatised. I feel that this is primarily because those in power over the centuries have systematically ensured that there is a ‘them and us’ culture in almost every aspect of our lives.”

Even through the unjust acts of ego and greed that plague the world, Michael reminds us to fall back on love. Fall back in love. It comes out naturally when we’re just being ourselves. When we return to the simpler things that bring us together in joy.

“We see glimpses of where the divide and conquer strategy fails and people unite again. For example when we are supporting a national sporting team, or when we are at a music concert or appreciating nature. In those brief moments, people aren’t thinking about your status, or your belief system, or your language or if you eat meat or are vegan…because in that moment, we are feeling something magical that pulls us closer together.”

South Africans know it well. It’s called Ubuntu, and we have it in endless supply. It just tends to gather a bit of dust when things feel hard. But it’s always out there.

“What is this magical power of unity…or perhaps it is naturally how we are meant to be? I believe that if all the conditioning – all what we were taught, or perhaps influenced to believe – if all of that was not there, we would be driven primarily by compassion, kindness and empathy. The world would pull together in the name of humanity and peace.”

So, how do we get back to that? There are many ways. Intuitively, you’ll know what you can do to make the world a brighter place. One thing that most of us share in common, though, is music.

“Reflecting about how music can unite and break down the barriers of division, I was thinking of what song best represents this need to bring people together, and as I contemplated, the song Imagine by John Lennon popped up on my feed.” says Michael. “His lyrics talk about the things that divide us – religion, possessions, greed, and the fact that we have these man made lines in the earth that depict borders. Your country and my country. All the things that people go to war for.”

Lennon asked us to IMAGINE if these things that divide us were not there and how we could all live in unity.

“Of course we need our faith and our countries. But imagine being free from the man made constructs that negatively influence how we treat our fellow human beings and our mother earth.”

So, Michael’s idea is simple. And powerful. And we’re sharing it with you.

From today up until the 16th of May, which is the International Day of Living Together in Peace, he has challenged everyone to share John Lennon’s song and lyrics far and wide.

“I feel that if we collectively posted and shared the song Imagine every day for a full month, we would send a message of hope and unity out there and maybe even shift something.”

It could be the original track. Or a cover of the song. Or the lyrics. Or you singing the song. The point is to share the essence of the message embedded in it, and remind ourselves that peace, love and compassion can change things around. For the better.

“A campaign that aims to unite us and to show those in power that we don’t want their division, greed and hatred. We rather want to live in peace and love each other.” says Michael. “And to use Lennon’s lyrics ‘I hope that someday you’ll join us…’”
