Melti Grobler is five years old and fighting cancer for the second time! Jacaranda FM decided to raise money towards his treatment and search for a donor.
Melti Grobler is a 5 year old facing his second fight against AML Leukaemia! He is being called the chemo-warrior for his fighting spirit! Jacaranda FM decided to help raise funds to go towards his treatment and help to find a bone marrow donor.
The Good Morning Angel Fund will be contributing R 30,000.00 towards Melti’s trust fund for medical treatment. Aside from the donation from the Angel fund, the Jacaranda FM Complimentary Breakfast show pleaded with listeners to donate to the fund as well.
“In his little life he has battled cancer and won. Melti was just over a year old when he was diagnosed. Above all expectation, after aggressive chemo treatment, Melti went into remission – even though a bone marrow transplant is usually the only way to cure AML Leukaemia in children”
The family has managed to find 30 possible donors but required R 140,000.00 for further testing to find the match they need. Sadly Melti’s medical aid refused to pay the amount which is why the fund raising was started. Once a match has been found there are further expenses for the bone marrow transplant.
Thankfully South Africa has pulled together as always!
At the time of writing this our resident Good Things Guy Brent Lindeque was at the Jacaranda FM studios to discuss all the good news in South Africa.
He advised that South Africa had come together to raise R 130,000.00 towards the medical fund.
