Joshua Isaacs, a brilliant young mind from the University of Pretoria, has been selected for a life-changing opportunity: a year-long exchange programme at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). However, he needs your support to make this possible.
Pretoria, South Africa (28 October 2024) – Top performing University of Pretoria student and aspiring mechanical engineer Joshua Isaacs has his sights set on a life-changing opportunity.
Selected for the prestigious 2025 UP-MIT Exchange Programme, he is poised to embark on an extraordinary journey to the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he hopes to gain a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
Only the top academic achievers are selected for this programme and with eight distinctions and an average of 79.22% in his first year, Joshua deservingly made the cut!
The young man has achieved commendable academic results throughout his schooling career, and being selected for this exchange programme further solidifies his excellence and potential.
However, one stumbling block stands in the way of this opportunity that could propel his career to extraordinary heights – finances.
“It is for this reason that I cannot forego the opportunity to be a part of this programme.
“My VCDMA bursary will cover my tuition for 2025, but accommodation, food and other expenses are not covered. This is a saving of R1,000,000,” Joshua explains.
The total cost of his expenses is about R670,000, and the aspiring engineer has therefore made a request for sponsorship to the greater public to help him realise his dream.
“Any contribution will be welcome and valued. This opportunity will undoubtedly change my life for the better, forever. It will uplift me personally but will advance my career and future prospects as well.”
“This will allow me to pursue career opportunities related to Business Process Engineering and/or careers in automotive, manufacturing and structural engineering,” Joshua adds.
The opportunity to be a student at MIT is an experience that Joshua will not only set him up for success but will also be cherished for the rest of his life and a first for his family.
