Finding a new place to live is difficult enough, but it becomes even more challenging when you have a pet. Kimita Pather is an estate agent who understands this struggle and is working to create a world where more pet parents can find their dream home without having to say goodbye to their beloved companions!
Johannesburg, South Africa (02 September 2025) – We all know that estate agents are in the business of selling properties that best meet clients’ residential or commercial needs. But Kimita Pather is one who goes the extra mile for pets’ needs, too!
In an industry where numbers often speak louder than values, Kimita has chosen a different path: one led by compassion, integrity, and genuine care for both people and animals.
Knowing too well the struggle of finding pet-friendly accommodation and having experienced the heartbreaking reality of seeing clients forced to give up their beloved pets to shelters or the SPCA as a result, Kimita has made it her mission to change that.
The Hyde Park agent has become a vocal advocate for a more inclusive rental market by focusing her efforts on sourcing and advertising pet-friendly rental properties, especially in the Southern suburbs of Johannesburg.
Her passion doesn’t stop at just finding homes for people with pets. Kimita has also personally committed to donating R1,000 from her own commission for every successful pet-friendly placement to local shelters and rescue organisations.
“If I successfully sell or rent your pet friendly property in Johannesburg South, I will donate R1,000 from my commission earned to either the JSPCA or Animal Anti-Cruelty League,” she explains in one of her promotional posts.
Talk about doing it for the furbabies! What’s even more inspiring is that Kimita did all of this quietly and without expectation of recognition.
“Her humility is exactly what makes her story so powerful. With the encouragement of those around her, she has now started to share her journey publicly – not to seek praise, but to motivate others in our industry and beyond to contribute in whatever way they can and also to get more pet-friendly listings,” shares Kimita’s colleague, Mandy Vosloo.
“Whether it’s donating a bag of dog food, volunteering at a shelter, or simply spreading kindness, Kimita reminds us all that every act of giving counts.”
Kimita’s selflessness, empathy, and passion for animal welfare deserve to be celebrated, and by sharing her story, not only are we doing just that, but those inspired by her efforts hope it will encourage more people to find small and impactful ways to give back to worthy causes.
Good Things Guy applauds this animal hero who is in her own profound way, creating a kinder, more compassionate world – one rental, one pet, and one act of generosity at a time!
