With the use of drones, this local community worked together with their security company and stopped a house robbery… and arrested a suspect!

Johannesburg, South Africa (18 January 2022) – Quick thinking and active citizenry stopped a house robbery and helped arrest a suspect! This is community kindness!

This week, a housebreaking suspect in the Kyalami AH area was arrested and turned over to the police by community patrollers and local security companies while two other suspects were scared off.

Around 9:40 pm, security guards from Castle Kyalami spotted three males in the community cameras hiding and slowly creeping in the long grass down the side of Main Road as cars drove by. The three males then crossed Main Road and disappeared into the bushes.

The Control room at Castle Kyalami immediately started the community “intrusion drill”, which includes sending Castle fidelity guards to the location of the suspects, calling the community watch, Midrand sector four patrollers, CPF members, the neighbouring Fidelity TRSS, ADT guards, the Fidelity drone unit and the Police.

A total of 25 people and 16 vehicles responded immediately upon notice.

All the above units split up and cornered off the area the suspects were last seen. One of the three males was caught on Zinnia and Rena road as the other two fled.

A drone was then deployed to find the remaining two males. The search was called off after an hour of searching without success in finding the other two suspects.

The first male who was caught led the CPF members to their house break-in tools which they were going to use in a planned house burglary. He was later questioned by Midrand SAPS and taken into custody.
