Shawn Ackerman has been using his free time over the weekends to do good deeds for others; he helps people fix up their gardens or does handyman jobs all for free.
Centurion, Gauteng – Shawn Ackerman wanted to do more in his community, so he posted on his local community page offering his time to help people fix up their homes. He helps one person or family each week by offering up his time for free.
Whether it is working in the garden, fixing a broken cupboard or clearing out a cluttered garage, Shawn is happy to lend a helping hand, doing the jobs and tasks that people put-off far too often.
Shawn works as a contractor in the construction industry, so he has enough knowledge to ensure a good job is done around people’s homes.
We asked Shawn what inspired him to start the project and he humbly answered that doing things for other people without expecting anything in return just made him feel good.
One of the stand-out jobs for Shawn was to help an 84-year-old woman who’s roof would leak whenever it rained.
“There was one lady, she was 84-years-old and I just climbed on her roof and moved some of her tiles because her roof was leaking. She was so grateful, she was looking for someone for so long to do that for her”
Shawn is happy to help with whatever people need and to reach as many people as he can. He has already worked in gardens, removed pesky bushes, fixed the bricks of a family’s driveway and been asked to wash and polish a woman’s car.
His random acts of kindness are spreading and inspiring people within his community. Each weekend he touches more lives and encourages people to go forward and do small acts of kindness. He has no plan in stopping any time soon and as long as he has the free time, he will be helping someone.
We are so inspired by Shawn’s efforts we just had to share them with you. Have you ever had someone help you out like this? Let’s share the good deeds in the comment section.
