In a world often flooded with bad news, a Durban Metro Officer is going viral for simply showing up with heart and humanity.

Zama, a Durban Metro officer, is currently going viral for all the right reasons… not because she chased down a criminal or issued a record number of traffic fines but because she chose to be kind.
Durban local Lorraine Marriott shared a heartfelt post on social media after experiencing what could have been a terrifying ordeal. Her car broke down in an unsafe area while she and her daughter were travelling – a moment that left them shaken, vulnerable, and unsure of what to do next. That’s when Zama stepped in.
“Thank you to an awesome woman Zama from Durban Metro Police,” Lorraine wrote. “You went beyond the call of duty, when my car broke down in an unsafe place. My daughter and I were left helpless and scared. You were like a breath of fresh air… staying with us till my vehicle was towed away.”
What makes Zama’s gesture so impactful is its simplicity. She didn’t have to stay. She could’ve called it in, ticked a box and gone on her way. But instead, she stayed. She showed up with empathy and calm, giving two complete strangers a sense of safety in an uncertain moment.
