With a long weekend ahead of South Africa, many are already planning the snacks and treats they’re going to enjoy during their time off. But, leaving some space in the trolley for those who need it is also on the cards as Boksburg prepares for a big Food Drive!
Boksburg, South Africa (11 June 2024) — With the long weekend ahead, we have no doubt that some South Africans will be stocking up on treats for braais, road trips and general sit-back-and-relax snacking. With a flurry of shoppers likely to head to the grocery store, the Humanity Foundation is inviting the Boksburg community to leave a little space in the trolley for the less fortunate as this weekend marks the annual Food Drive!
Pierre Marneweck of the Humanity Foundation is inviting everyone in, or planning to be in the Boksburg area to make some time over the Father’s Day/Youth Day weekend to stop by North Rand Road and make a small but essential difference.
The call is out for non-perishables, which will be distributed to causes the Humanity Foundation supports, including Children’s Homes, Early Childhood Development Centres, Gender-based violence support homes and Soup Kitchens (all of which are dependent on the number of food items received.)
Beyond good energy and good deeds, the Food Drive is more than a drop-off initiative with a weekend of entertainment pencilled in.
“Entertainment on the day will consist out of Voces Libres Choir Ashton International Choir and Marimba Band. DJ Lyndo will keep us entertained in between. St Dominiques School will be bringing their team of Drum Majorettes on the 16th June…Cars will be on display and we will have our friends from Legendary Gaurdians do a drive-by and stand-off,” shares Pierre.
