South African Poet and Author Athol Williams has just achieved massive praise for his latest academic achievements, receiving a distinction for his thesis at Oxford University.

Athol Williams, has received a distinction for his thesis at Oxford University in the UK. He has been working really hard to reach this achievement. Athol’s wife shared her pride on Facebook after hearing the news of his latest grade.

Athol was the first person to earn Masters degrees from five of the top universities in the world (including Harvard, the London School of Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of the Witwatersrand). Now he can add the Oxford Distinction to his list.

“My amazing and inspirational husband has done it yet again. Athol passed and even got a distinction for his thesis at Oxford! Congrats, am so proud :)” – Taryn Lock

Over twenty years ago, Athol’s brother gave him an Oxford t-shirt and jacket to inspire him to achieve greatness, which is exactly what he has done!

During all this time and hard work, Athol has also published an award winning autobiography and two more Oaky books. He also co-founded a reading and literacy NPO called Read to Rise, that focuses on getting books and libraries set up in poor areas.

The NPO has created over 236 mini-libraries, nearly 70,000 new books handed out and over 55,000 learners uplifted!

“READ to RISE distributes brightly coloured, high quality books that are educational, entertaining and inspirational. Our programme introduces books into many homes for the first time giving parents the opportunity to read with their children, and giving children the chance to share the magic of reading with siblings and friends.”

Such an amazing achievement and an inspirational story, showing nothing is impossible!
