The first Santa Shoebox registrations have opened for the year, and it allows people to register teams who plan to donate 20 boxes or more.
South Africa (04 August 2020) – We have reached that time of year already, it is mindblowing how fast time is flying! It is finally time to start pledging your Santa Shoeboxes and this year, there is a fun twist!
This year you can register teams if you plan to donate more than 20 boxes. Regular registration and pledging aren’t open just yet but registration for teams launched on Monday morning, the third of August.
The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 with only 180 boxes being handed out. Since then, the charity has touched the lives of over 858 673 underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia.
Everyone gets involved, from corporate businesses to groups of friends and individuals. Everyone who gets involved makes an incredible effort to give the very best boxes. Take, for example, last year; a young man was also gifted driving lessons as part of his box. The gesture brought everyone to tears!
“When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.”
Perhaps it is time to challenge your friends and colleagues to do a Santa Shoebox. Challenge 20 people and you can build up a team easily.
“If you plan on pledging 20 Shoeboxes or more, our Team Pledge Help Desk is open and ready to assist from Monday 03 August.
A Team Pledge is a great way to build team spirit – create some gees in the workplace, share the joy in your book club or braai circle, or teach your learners the Joy of Giving. It’s also a wonderful bonding experience for a family!
Complete a short form, providing us with the information required to best match your pledge to the beneficiaries on our lists, and we’ll ensure your Team Pledge is off to a great start!”
How do you usually do your box? With friends and family, or do you usually just do a few by yourself?
