The BEST news! This brings the total to FOUR (and counting) wins scooped by SA’s animal welfare teams at this year’s international awards.

Cape Town, South Africa (06 March 2026) – The Animal Welfare Society of SA gives us two more reasons to ‘cheers!’ over SA’s world-class care for animals.

The LUXlife Pet Products and Services Awards were held this week, celebrating organisations and individuals making exceptional contributions to the global pet and animal care sector.

Earlier, we shared the news of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA’s two well-deserved wins. The Animal Welfare Society of SA (AWS) has scooped two more, bringing South Africa’s tally up to four honours earned at the global awards!

The Cape Town NPO took the title for Most Progressive and Impactful Animal Welfare Organisation – South Africa, and claimed the Community Outreach Excellence Award.

The AWS says these distinguished honours go to its inspectors, veterinary staff and outreach teams as well as its supporters, donors and advocates who have helped better the lives of thousands of animals across the Western Cape.

“To say that our Executive Committee, Patron, Ambassadors and team are proud of this hard-won achievement would be an understatement – we are overjoyed and deeply grateful to join LUXlife’s esteemed Hall of Fame, further elevating our reputation as a proudly South African centre of excellence.” shared the AWS, adding: “Your generosity and belief in our mission make this life-saving work possible. Thank you for standing with us and for being an indispensable part of our many successes over the past almost 100 years.”

In 2019, AWS was also recognised as a contender for an Impumelelo Award for its innovative and humane pet population management approach, which included a novel solution for the prevention of communicable diseases.

We’re so happy to celebrate yet another incredible local organisation making meaningful change in the world of animal welfare. Go team SA!
