Two Grade 11s from King David High School Linksfield have made a positive impact in Jozi through the power of socks and social responsibility!
Johannesburg, South Africa (19 September 2023) — Two grade 11 students from King David High School Linksfield have set an example as young change-makers, showing South Africa ( as so many young heroes do) that social responsibility is not subject to age.
Noa Nerwich and Gina Dave recently completed their Chesed projects (acts of healing and kindness), and in turn, have helped little ones while inspiring all ages with their commitment to the kindness cause.
Noa’s project, ‘Forever Kids Haven: A Lifelong Project-Changing Lives, One Child at a Time’, has been supporting children at the Kids Haven Shelter, where she initiated events, food drives and educational packs. Even during the pandemic, she created educational activity boxes for the children, per ORT South Africa.
As such, Noa has won the World ORT Gina and Joseph Harmatz Award for Social Responsibility, with judges sharing that her dedication to the project was “exceptional.”
Noa also got involved in collections for families impacted by the Boksburg explosion earlier this year per The Angel Network SA.
Similarly, Gina Dave played a big role in social responsibility with a special focus on two charities: Arcadia and Kids Haven, having raised a much-needed R150 000.
“Gina conceptualized, manufactured and sold socks for King David’s 75th anniversary and donated all the funds raised to two charities who are very close to her,” said King David High School Linksfield.
“We are so proud of these two exceptional students who show the values of chesed both in the school and in the greater Johannesburg community,” their school added.
