Jerry Mbowane has been dedicated to teaching his students maths, so much so that he hosted classes under a tree, now he has a classroom to call his very own
Jerry Mbowane is a teacher from Mpumalanga and for the last two decades he has been giving after school Maths and Science classes under a tree in his garden.
The dedicated teacher has worked hard to make sure that the students get the best opportunity to succeed in both Maths and Science. Jerry is a mathematical guru according to News24 and has had a passion for teaching and enriching the youths education for years.
Caltex decided to reward his dedication with a classroom. The classroom was set-up at the local primary school, a small walk from Jerry’s home. The classroom is being called the Caltex Academy of Maths and Science.

Jerry has been teaching around 70 learners under his tree and in the mornings he visits the local government schools to teach. Caltex is providing him with R150,000.00 to provide stationary and use of a classroom to give lessons.
Jerry works hard to break the stigma that Maths and Science are hard subjects, he believes that if a poor man has good marks they will help him go much further!
