Love Story has spent nearly a decade caring for people in the Gqeberha area, supporting soup kitchens and running upliftment projects.

Gqeberha, South Africa (07 October 2021) – Love Story regularly fed up to 300 homeless people five times a week before the pandemic. That was just one of the initiatives the organisation had set up in the city since being formed in 2012 to help the needy.

Love Story is a non-profit organisation that seeks to meet the needs of the local community. They operate in and around Port Elizabeth and are involved in various projects, e.g. soup kitchens, creche support, clothing/toy distribution, hospital handouts, etc.

Love Story founder Elaine Watson used her network to bolster support when the pandemic hit. Since then, they have managed to feed thousands.

They have slightly adjusted how they operate solely to cater for the regulations per lockdown level. Earlier this year, Love Story launched a Love Sandwich campaign to ensure school children had food in their bellies. They delivered bread to schools so sandwiches could be made each day.

The next initiative they are launching is the “Buckets of Blessing”. The buckets will be distributed in the festive season so that families can have a hearty meal come Christmas Day.

“Every festive season Love Story sends out hundreds of Buckets of Blessing to needy recipients in Gqeberha. Each of these recipients lives in extreme poverty, many are homeless.

The aim of the bucket is to supply families with enough groceries to see them through the festive season, allowing them to enjoy a meal on Christmas Day.

We would like to appeal to you to help us fill these buckets. Due to the pandemic, we face a greater challenge this year, as thousands more are in need. Please would you consider donating items or sponsoring buckets for
R150 each.

Herewith is a list of items we need to fill these buckets:
– canned food
– samp
– rice
– maize meal
– biscuits
– and non-perishable food”

You can help in several ways, either donating the funds needed to fill a bucket or donating a few or all of the items required to fill a bucket.

All the feeding programmes Love Story manage have changed thousands of lives during the lockdown. If you would like to find out more or support them, you can check out their Facebook page here.
