The Khayalami Health Foundation is stepping in to raise funds to provide Petros Malepe with the surgery he desperately needs to transform a decade of suffering into a lighter and happier future.
Burgersfort, South Africa (01 August 2025) – Petros Malepe is a 43-year-old man who should be looking forward to life’s slower and quieter moments in the company of his loved ones. But Petros, unlike most middle-aged men, carries the heavy burden of a massive keloid extending from his chin, a source of constant pain and emotional distress for the past 10 years.
Despite countless visits to public hospitals, his condition remains unresolved, leaving him feeling drained and without hope.
Moved by his circumstances, Dr Ephraim Kgoete of the Khayalami Health Foundation is currently rallying support and raising funds to give Petros the surgery that will turn over a decade of pain and awkward stares into a future filled with hope and comfort.
“He needs assistance to have it surgically excised so that he can regain his confidence and live happily ever after.
“The contributions will cover his surgery, hospital fees, emotional support, radiotherapy and medication,” says Dr Kgoete.

Dr Kgoete, who has also been contributing from his own pocket, has fully committed himself to assist Petros to make sure he is operated safely and professionally.
Funds have been pouring in from donors touched by Petros’ story and currently sit at R22,952 of the R70,000 fundraising goal.
“From the bottom of our hearts, with generosity and selfless efforts, we humbly ask for your contribution to change his life and make a difference,” the doctor appealed.
To help restore Petros’ confidence and provide him with a new lease on life, donate to the Surgery Drive Fundraiser for Mr Petros Malepe campaign.
