Veggie Vendors Saved by Kind Strangers on a Dangerous Stretch of Road

A stranger led them all the way to safety, and a small local business said, ‘It’s on us. ‘ That’s how kindness can save the day!

Cape Town, South Africa (11 November 2025) – Somerset West and Strand’s local fruit and veggie vendors, The Veggie Boyz, recently shared a dose of goodness on a local Facebook group that we thought worth sharing here.

They were driving from Cape Town to Strand early one morning when something sharp shot under their front tyre on the N2. The tyre shredded instantly. They managed to pull off near the Duinefontein Road (M10) exit, but it’s not a place you want to be stuck.

While they were trying to figure out what to do next, a stranger pulled over. His name was Nuzhad Pail. He didn’t hesitate; he warned them that the area was dangerous and told them to keep moving.

“Then, out of nowhere, a Good Samaritan stopped to warn us that we were in a very dangerous area. He advised us to drive carefully — even on the rim — to the nearest tyre depot, about a kilometre away,” shares The Veggie Boyz, recounting their experience.

And then he took the lead.

“He drove in front of us, hazards flashing, and escorted us all the way to safety. And stayed with us the entire time,” they wrote.

When they reached the small tyre shop on the corner of Ascension and Vlottenberg Roads, damage assessment was done. The team took one look at the shredded tyre, got to work immediately, and replaced it. When the Veggie Boyz tried to pay, the shop refused.

What have we said about kindness? It’s contagious.

“When we tried to pay, they refused, saying that as Muslims, it is their duty to help strangers in distress. How amazing is that?” shared the vendors.

Eventually, they convinced them to accept a box of fresh fruit as a thank you.

Thanks to a chain of kindness, no local veggie vendors were harmed while doing their rounds. They wheeled off in safety.

“A massive thank you to Nuzhad Pail, our guardian angel on the road, and to the wonderful team at that humble tyre shop — your kindness will never be forgotten…What a reminder that goodness still shines brightly in this world,” The Veggie Boyz share.

Stories like this happen daily. Not every small act of kindness lands on our radar, but when they do, we love sharing them. No single individual can bring harmony and peace to the world, but we can all slowly chip away at it with kindness.
