Two years after a devastating motorcycle accident changed the course of his fitness journey, Prince Kaybee is preparing to cycle more than 600 kilometres from Johannesburg to Durban in a challenge that is as much about mindset as it is endurance.

Johannesburg, South Africa (12 June 2026) – A body that once carried him through marathons was forced to stop in an instant. Two years later, Prince Kaybee is setting himself a challenge that would make even seasoned cyclists take notice.

The South African DJ, producer and entrepreneur is preparing to ride more than 600 kilometres from Johannesburg to Durban over three consecutive days, turning a personal recovery journey into a story of determination and starting over.

From the 13th to the 15th of June 2026, Prince Kaybee, born Kabelo Motsamai, will take on the inaugural HiPace Cycle Challenge, covering a route from Midrand through the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal before finishing at Durban South Beach. To complete the challenge, he will need to average around 200 kilometres a day, well beyond his current personal best cycling distance of 158 kilometres.

The ride comes just two years after a serious motorcycle accident left him with multiple fractures and required four surgeries. As a passionate long-distance runner and fitness enthusiast, the prospect of never running competitively again was difficult to accept. Instead of dwelling on what he had lost, Prince Kaybee turned to cycling as part of his rehabilitation. What began as recovery soon became a new passion, helping him rebuild both physically and mentally. Now, he is taking that journey public.

“HiPace is bigger than cycling,” says Prince Kaybee. “It’s about proving that setbacks don’t have to define you. After my accident, I had every reason to stop. Instead, I chose to rebuild. This challenge represents every person who’s had to start again after life changed their plans.”

While few will ever attempt a 600-kilometre ride, most know what it feels like to face an unexpected setback and find a new way forward. The route itself promises spectacular scenery, taking riders through Bethlehem, across the Drakensberg and Oliviershoek Pass, on to Pietermaritzburg, before joining the iconic Amashova route into Durban. The challenge will also support a charitable cause, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to charity, extending the impact beyond the finish line.

Supporters can follow the journey through Prince Kaybee’s social media channels as he tackles the biggest endurance challenge of his life. And while the destination is Durban, the real story is about what can happen when you refuse to let life’s toughest moments decide what comes next.
