South Africa has named competitive T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against Pakistan, with a focus on World Cup preparation.
South Africa (04 February 2026) – The Proteas Women are set for a busy home stretch after Cricket South Africa confirmed the T20 International and One-Day International squads that will take on Pakistan in an inbound limited-overs tour running from 10 February to 1 March.
The series comes at a key point in South Africa’s calendar, serving both as preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England in 2026 and the start of a new ICC Women’s Championship cycle in the 50-over format, which forms part of the qualification pathway to the 2029 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
One of the standout selections for the T20I series is 20-year-old Kayla Reyneke, who earns her first senior national call-up. The former South Africa Under-19 Women’s captain has been rewarded with a place in the squad as the team looks to build depth ahead of the global tournament.
She joins a strong core led by captain Laura Wolvaardt. Further balance is added through the inclusion of wicketkeeper-batters Sinalo Jafta and Karabo Meso. Tazmin Brits and Ayanda Hlubi also return after missing the recent series against Ireland.

While the T20I squad focuses on World Cup preparation, the ODI series marks the beginning of South Africa’s new IWC cycle.
Proteas Women head coach Mandla Mashimbyi commented on the selected squad.
“We are very pleased to be able to select two competitive squads, ahead of what will be a very demanding period for the team, with tours against New Zealand and India still to come before the T20 World Cup.”
The coach is also well aware of the task that lies ahead.
“We are not settling for anything less, and this tour against Pakistan, a side we know very well and who can be a tricky opponent on their day will go a long way in helping us execute our plans and review what works and what we need to focus on going forward.”
The Proteas Women will assemble in Potchefstroom on 5 February before the three-match T20I series takes place from 10 to 16 February. Attention will then shift to the ODI fixtures on 22 and 25 February, before the tour concludes with the fifth edition of the Black Day ODI at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on 1 March.
