We can finally start celebrating Summer with first 30-degree prediction for Joburg

We are a summer-loving team here at Good Things Guy and have loved sharing news of rain and storms but now its time to celebrate the warmer weather.

Are you a summer lover? Ready to gooi on your flip-flops and sunnies? We just squealed with joy thanks to a Tweet that Gauteng Weather sent out. Friday temperatures are predicted to hit 30-degrees marking the first post-winter day of the coming sunny season.

We just can’t get enough of summer. In Joburg it means green lawn and summer rains, it also means smelling like sunblock, eating watermelon and listening to rumbling thunderstorms. Feeling the warm air rising from hot roads after the afternoon rain and the smell that goes along with it, just bliss. We just can’t bear the wait any longer.

What are some of your favourite parts of summer?

In our excitement, we started listing off all the things we want to do this summer. How many are on your list? And what should we be adding to ours?

Go for a picnic at the Botanical Gardens, or any local park.
Weekend braai with friends and family.
Visit the local dog park with our furry friends.
Go for long walks.
Go Camping.
Joburg Hop-on Hop-off bus tours (available in Cape Town too).
Take part in a city or park clean-up.
Visit the Melville Koppies, you can incorporate the picnic and long walks on this one!
Head into Joburg city for the Neighbourgoods Market.
Basically any market is on the list!
Just be outdoors more.
Sunbathing (always remember your sunblock) and swimming.
Play a game of friendly cricket, touch rugby or soccer.
Road trips to small towns.
Volunteer at a shelter, walking dogs or helping clean kennels.
Get fit.
Trying out new and tasty salad recipes.
Extra family time.
Spring clean and donate unused winter items to a charity in need.
