A heartbreaking roadside discovery has become a story of hope, thanks to the care of the Kloof and Highway SPCA and one compassionate passer-by.
Johannesburg, South Africa (22 July 2026) – Earlier this month, the Kloof and Highway SPCA welcomed six tiny puppies after a concerned member of the public found them abandoned and brought them to safety. Tucked inside a cardboard box with no food, water or anyone to care for them, the little pups had been left to fend for themselves.
Thankfully, that wasn’t the end of their story. The SPCA team quickly stepped in, making sure each puppy received a full health check, vaccinations and deworming treatment before settling them into a warm, comfortable kennel complete with cosy bedding, nutritious meals and plenty of care.
Since then, the transformation has been remarkable. Their difficult start is slowly becoming a distant memory as they continue to thrive under the care of the SPCA team.
Now known as Juno, Lumi, Amara, Noor, Elowyn and their sixth sibling, the adorable mixed-breed puppies are ready for the next chapter of their lives, by finding families to call their own.
The Kloof and Highway SPCA is inviting prospective adopters to visit the puppies and get to know them. Sometimes, the perfect companion is simply waiting for someone to walk through the door.
Those interested in adopting one of the puppies can contact the SPCA’s adoption team at [email protected] to arrange a visit.
