Over 40 keen cyclists are undertaking extraordinary physical feats and big goals –riding 500km with hopes to raise R400,000– to ensure children in the Eastern Cape receive vital surgical care!
East London, South Africa (27 February 2025) – The oupas and pas behind the Eyabantwana For The Children Trust don’t play small when it comes to supporting the needs of little ones requiring surgery in the Eastern Cape.
Wherever an opportunity arises for them to get on their bikes and ride for a cause that will help children overcome various health challenges, they don’t think twice!
Just recently, they managed to raise an incredible R70,000 to help fund vital surgical equipment for the East London Department of Paediatric Surgery for children in need at the Spargs 1,000 Cycle Race.
Their actions go beyond mere fundraising as they embody a profound sense of responsibility towards vulnerable children.
Now, they are preparing to pedal even harder and raise even more at the 10th annual Grandads Army Memorial Ride!
From 2 to 6 March, 42 cyclists and 18 crew members will embark on a mission to not just conquer 500km from East London to Cape Town in five days but to raise R400,000 for the Eyabantwana Trust!
Thanks to the support of those who are moved by their compassion, they have already raised R262,900 so far!
“The Navy is leading the charge in our friendly competition against the Originals, Army, and Air Force! If you know one of our cyclists, reach out and support their fundraising efforts with a donation.
“Every contribution brings us closer to our goal and helps provide life-saving surgical equipment for children in need,” Eyabantwana Trust shares.
