Erian Cole Moodley, the bodybuilder lifting the odds against Cerebral Palsy has done something remarkable in more ways than one by qualifying to represent South Africa at the WFF World Championships!

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (04 October 2023) — Almost a month ago, we shared the inspiring story of Erian Cole Moodley, the KZN-based bodybuilder lifting the odds against his cerebral palsy. And, in the space between then and now, Erian has achieved something massive not just for South Africa, but for anyone who feels weighed down by their circumstances.

Erian competed in the World Fitness Federation South Africa Championships at the end of September (getting there is a huge milestone in and of itself) and qualified for the international stage! He is now off to represent South Africa at the World WFF Championships in Berlin, Germany, pencilled for 3 November.

“Your belief in me, your cheers and your messages of encouragement have been my driving force, and I couldn’t have done it without you, he expressed to everyone who supported his journey.

As both a budding bodybuilder and beacon of hope for those who have been dealt challenging odds, Erian’s story is one of the fiercest determination.

Diagnosed at a young age, Erian took to sport early on. However, team sports didn’t always open the door to him, so he decided to crack open his own window—fitness.

With guidance from his biokineticist Reynier Pretorious, focus on breathing and cardiovascular exercises for Erian soon paved the opportunity for strength training. Not long after, Erian showed huge potential.

Through his dedicated sessions, Erian happened upon professional athlete and World Fitness Federation Chairman, Lyle Singh who was hugely inspired by Erian’s strength and character, two things that are also in his superpower arsenal.

Now, he is on to bigger and better floors, and South Africa couldn’t be more proud to be represented by him.

With each weight he lifts, he challenges not only himself but misconceptions about Cerebral Palsy, while pumping the odds in his favour.
