Sportswoman Human Rights Caster Semenya

Caster Semenya has just won a gold for the 800m and has become the third athlete in history to win the women’s middle distance double (800m & 1500m) at the Commonwealth Games.

Caster Semenya has won the gold for the 800m at the Commonwealth Games. This is the 13th Gold for South Africa. She raced to victory in a time of 1:56.68. She has now broken a record and made history during these games.

She broke Zola Budd’s 34-year-old record for the 1200m with a time of 4:00.71, beating it by 0.09s. And she now follows in the footsteps of Kenyan Lancy Langat and Welshwoman Kirsty Wade, who both previously won the 800m and 1500m titles during the 2010 Delhi Games and the games in Edinburgh in 1986.

Caster is now South Africa’s most successful female athlete of all time!

We couldn’t be more proud of our Golden Gal and we know that everyone is celebrating this incredible win alongside you.
