After the schedule for Rugby World Cup 2027 was announced, the Boks know where and when they’ll face Italy, Georgia, and Romania as they gear up for another shot at history.
South Africa (04 February 2026) – The Springboks are gearing up for another big Rugby World Cup adventure, and it all kicks off in Adelaide against Italy. This time is the 2027 Rugby World Cup!
Following that game, the world champions will move on to Brisbane to face Georgia and then Perth for a clash with Romania, completing their pool fixtures in Australia.
World Rugby revealed the full RWC 2027 schedule, with matches taking place across eight venues. The new format will feature a round of 16 on the weekend of 23 and 24 October, quarter-finals a week later on 30 and 31 October in Sydney and Brisbane, semi-finals on 5 and 6 November, and the final at Stadium Australia on Saturday, 13 November.
Coach Rassie Erasmus says Adelaide Oval will be familiar territory.
“It’s pleasing that we now know where and when we are playing, and we are fortunate that we have played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, and Sydney in the last few years in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship.”
The top two in each pool, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the round of 16. If the Boks finish first or second in Pool B, their first playoff match will be in Perth, with the quarter-final, semi-final, and final all staged in Sydney.
“We can now go full steam ahead with our planning and preparation for the tournament, and we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that we are as fresh and well prepared as possible for the competition.”
Before the World Cup, South Africa’s international calendar is packed. The Boks are hoping to arrange a warm-up match in June ahead of the 2026 season starting in July, featuring clashes against England (4 July, Johannesburg), Scotland (11 July, Pretoria), and Wales (18 July, Durban) as part of the new Nations Championship.
August and September will bring the inaugural Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series with the All Blacks, with four Tests across Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Baltimore.
