Team SA has been tweeting up a storm confirming all the information relating to upcoming events including semi-final qualifications and finals.
Team SA has been doing phenomenally well at the Commonwealth Games and yesterday was the golden day. Team SA earned a whopping 8 medals.
South Africa now sits at 5th of the medals table with 8 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze. Things will be heating up this evening and over the next few days as many South Africans have qualified for the semi-finals and finals of their respective sports.
Here is what you need to know. (All reported times are in SA time)
- The women’s hockey team will be competing at 11:30 am
- Wenda Nel has qualified for the 400m hurdles final on Thursday.
- The men’s and women’s lawn bowls have done really well in their team and singles games.
- Ruswahl Samaai and Luvo Manyonga have both qualified for the long jump final which takes place tomorrow, Wednesday 11th of April at 12:30 pm.
- Bradley Tandly is competeing in the 50m Freestyle Final today at 11:45 am
- Brent Szurdoki will be competing in the 1500m Freestyle Final today at 13:03 pm

During the 400m men’s final this afternoon 13:48 pm, there is the opportunity to see if anyone will break Wayde van Niekerk’s Rio de Janeiro record time of 43.03. Sadly there is nobody from Team SA competing but it will still be a great race to watch in regards to the record.
