Now in its 6th year, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards hope the pictures encourage people to shop responsibly, be mindful of their water use, and speak out about environmental issues — in addition to making people laugh.
Global (11 September 2020) – Every year, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards highlight the funniest photos of animals taken in the wild. Talented photographers from around the world manage to capture moments where animals seem to be experiencing very human emotions or dilemmas, and the 2020 submissions are exactly what you would expect them to be.
Now in its 6th year, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards was co-founded by Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam – two British photographers with a passion for animals. By partnering with The Born Free Foundation, the pair hopes to promote wildlife conservation through humorous and lighthearted imagery. Thousands of entries come from all over the world from photographers who managed to capture animals during their most funny moments.
They hope the pictures encourage people to shop responsibly, be mindful of their water use, and speak out about environmental issues — in addition to making people laugh.
“The planet has had a bit of a breather recently, because most of us have been in lockdown,” the organizers of the contest say in a statement.
“As a result, we have seen wildlife return and thrive in our rivers, oceans, lands, and skies. It is more important than ever before that we learn from this and make sure we do our best to conserve and look after this amazing planet of ours before it is too late.”
