The Proteas cricketer popped the question and was met with a ‘YES!’

South Africa (26 July 2026) – Love is in the air! South African international cricketer and former world champion javelin thrower Tazmin Brits is engaged.

The news was revealed on social media on Thursday by the athlete’s bride-to-be, Mandy Human.

“Plot twist…She asked. I said YES.” she wrote, along with a carousel of images from Brits’ romantic proposal, which included a gorgeous natural backdrop, bubbly, and a dazzling ring.

The happy news comes days after the couple attended the Cricket South Africa awards together, celebrating South Africa’s best in cricket.

“An unforgettable evening celebrating the very best of South African cricket. Honoured to be surrounded by the legends who shaped the game and inspired generations. What a privilege to be part of a night celebrating excellence, and to share it with my favourite person.” wrote Human.

Mandy, a South African road cycling champion, golfer and padel pro, is one of Brits’ biggest cheerleaders.

The Proteas batter made her foray into the sport in 2018, after becoming a Youth World Champion in javelin.

In this year’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, Brits stood tall and delivered. DP World Lions Cricket named her best batter amongst the Proteas throughout the World Cup campaign.

Congratulations are in order for the happy couple, in their commitment to being a team for life!
