Waving the South African flag high and proud, Zach Fourie has just clinched his maiden Formula 4 US Championship victory in Canada!

Clarington, Canada (07 September 2026) – South Africa’s Zach Fourie has claimed his maiden Formula 4 United States Championship victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Canada, marking a proud breakthrough moment in his rookie campaign!

According to Motorsport Fanatix, Fourie turned a strong qualifying performance into the result he had been chasing all season. After starting near the front of the grid, he drove with patience, stayed in contention, and made the most of his opportunity to claim a memorable first win.

The victory is especially significant after a season in which Zach had already earned eight podium finishes without reaching the top step. He arrived in Canada third in the championship on 147 points, 51 behind championship leader Gastón Irazú and 14 behind Kiwi Motorsport teammate Caleb Campbell.

Under the F4 US scoring system, a win carries 25 points, taking Zach’s tally to 172. With more racing scheduled for the weekend, the victory gave him fresh momentum in the championship fight.

F4 United States Championship reported that Zach started strongly and quickly challenged for the lead. After briefly moving ahead, he was later passed by Gastón Irazú, but stayed close enough to keep the pressure on.

As the race unfolded, Zach remained firmly in the fight at the front while the drivers behind him battled for position – keeping himself within reach of the leader, waiting for the right moment to respond.

That chance came after a brief caution period brought the field back together. On the restart, Zach seized the opportunity, made a determined move, and reclaimed the lead with a confident pass. From there, he held on to cross the finish line first, ahead of Irazú, Cole Medeiros, Clemente Huerta Raab and Luca Day.

“I’m honestly lost for words,” said Fourie.

“I can’t believe it. The team gave me a fantastic car. The plan was to be patient, but the tires fired on so quickly. [Gastón] had a great start and got past me, and then I had Cole [Medeiros] in my mirrors. So, I was just like, ‘try to save the tyres, and we’ll see what happens at the end.’ Then the safety car came, and I knew I had to try and capitalise. I can’t thank the team enough. I’m lost for words.”

“He’s been working sooo hard, and this weekend he got his first win in Formula 4! He’s been on the podium nine times – five second places, three third places and now a win! What a wonderful experience. To be second in the championship after just two years in a car,” says proud mom, Leisl-Mae Fourie.

Zach’s maiden Formula 4 United States Championship victory is a proud moment for South Africa and a powerful reminder of what talent, hard work and belief can achieve.
