The team put a playful spin on the “what year were you born” challenge, turning the joke on players born in the 2000s.

Durban, South Africa (26 January 2026) – Sharks are proving once again that they’re not just bringing the heat on the field, but also having a blast off it.

Jumping on a popular social media trend, Sharks Rugby shared a video asking players one simple question: What year were you born? Normally, this trend pokes fun at those born in the 90s by throwing in dramatic “ancient history” edits. But the Sharks flipped the script entirely.

Instead of roasting the players born in the 90s, the edits kicked in when the answers landed in the 2000s. Cue Baby Shark playing in the background and flashes of Cocomelon.

The video quickly became a hit with fans, who were equally shocked and entertained by how casually the years rolled off.

And while the laughs were flowing online, the Sharks were all business on the weekend. The Durban-based side delivered a statement performance by stunning the Stormers with a convincing 30–19 bonus-point victory at Cape Town Stadium, handing the hosts their first defeat of the URC season.

From viral videos to big wins, the Sharks are clearly enjoying their rugby, and judging by the vibes, they’re having a lot of fun doing it too.
