Record-Breaking Africa Rally Raises Over R1.1 Million for 22 Charities!

The Africa Rally wraps on a high note! Every team reached the finish line and over R1.1 million has been raised for charity.

Africa (03 August 2026) – The Africa Rally has officially crossed the finish line for another year. Thanks to all the support generated in 2026, more than R1.1 million has been raised for 22 charities making a difference across southern Africa.

This year’s rally was a record-breaker in more ways than one. For the first time, every single team that crossed the start line also made it to the finish. Granted, not every vehicle survived the journey in one piece…but every participant did.

“We had 100% of participants who crossed the start line, also cross the finish line (although not necessarily in the same vehicles they started with)… and they raised an amazing R1.1million+ for 22 fantastic causes.” shares founder Paul Clayton.

The money raised will support a range of causes, from wildlife conservation and education to healthcare initiatives and grassroots community projects. Painted Dog Conservation, Tears Foundation, Up With Downs School, Restore Mother Nature and Pit Pals are among the many beneficiaries.

Epic memories were made along the route this year, along with well-deserved wins.

The Challenger Route title went to Team Big Yellow Taxi from the United Kingdom, who completed the rally in exactly what their name suggests… a bright yellow London taxi.

Meanwhile, the Discovery Route was won by Team Lekker Legends from the United States in their classic Land Rover Defender 110.

But perhaps the biggest crowd favourites were the recipients of the rally’s wonderfully named Golden Pineapple Award.

That honour went to Team Fish Out of Water, who somehow managed to complete the more than 6,000-kilometre adventure on 150cc Big Boy scooters. It’s officially the smallest engine capacity ever to complete the Africa Rally, making it one of the event’s most entertaining achievements to date.

Once the celebrations kicked off at the finish-line parties in Tanzania and eSwatini, organisers barely had time to catch their breath before registrations for The Africa Rally 2027 started rolling in.
