The Springbok forward says learning alongside World Cup winners is helping him grow after South Africa’s hard-fought win over Scotland.
Pretoria, South Africa (13 July 2026) – Springbok forward Ben-Jason Dixon says every Test match is helping him grow in confidence after another valuable outing in South Africa’s 42-28 victory over Scotland in Pretoria.
For Dixon, the result was another important step in what has been an exciting start to his international career.
He says each opportunity in the green and gold jersey has helped him become more comfortable at the Test level.
“I feel like my confidence is growing a little bit every week. I felt better in the England game than I did against the Barbarians, and better against Scotland than I did against England.”
Although pleased with the result, Dixon admits the Springboks know there is still plenty to improve despite finishing with six tries against a determined Scottish side.

“I’m glad we got the win tonight, but there’s plenty to work on.”
The match was anything but straightforward for the world champions, with Scotland twice fighting their way back into the contest before the Springboks eventually pulled away during a thrilling second half.
Dixon believes matches like these are invaluable, particularly for the younger players who are eager to prove themselves on the international stage.
“A lot of the young guys are super excited to put up their hand and do well.”
He says one of the biggest advantages of being part of the current Springbok squad is learning from some of rugby’s most experienced winners.
“We have such a privilege to learn from all these guys that know how to win.”
Dixon says sharing a dressing room with several double Rugby World Cup winners raises the standards across the squad every single day.
Those lessons, he says, become even more valuable during matches where a number of the less experienced players are given an opportunity to play together.
The Springboks now turn their attention to next week’s Rugby Championship clash against Georgia, with another opportunity for players to continue building combinations as Rassie Erasmus rotates his squad throughout the season.
