The Cape Town Society for the Blind is using Youth Month to highlight how skills development, training and support are helping young people build independent futures.
Cape Town, South Africa (05 June 2026) – Every young person’s journey looks different. For some, success is measured in medals or marks. For others, it is found in the confidence to take the next step, learn a new skill or become more independent.
As South Africa marks Youth Month, the Cape Town Society for the Blind is shining a spotlight on the potential of young people who are blind and visually impaired, and the opportunities that can help them thrive.
Through programmes focused on technology, mobility, communication and entrepreneurship, the organisation is helping young people build the skills needed to navigate daily life, pursue careers and grow in confidence. The message behind the initiative reminds us that success is not about perfection, but about progress.
In a recent campaign video, the organisation placed emphasis on personal journeys, sharing messages about celebrating small victories, staying consistent and defining success on their own terms.
Rather than focusing on limitations, the organisation’s Youth Month campaign highlights what becomes possible when barriers are removed and young people are given the tools and support to reach their full potential.
The programmes a sense of independence, self-belief and the confidence to pursue goals that may once have felt out of reach.
As Youth Month continues, the Cape Town Society for the Blind will be sharing stories of resilience, achievement and determination, showcasing how young people are carving out their own paths and proving that opportunity can make all the difference.
