It’s the season of giving, and who is more deserving of a gift than a four-legged friendie?
Johannesburg, South Africa (19 November 2025) – This year, Pet Empowerment in Townships (PET) in Johannesburg is doing its best to make that happen for dozens of animals this Christmas.
Through rallying the support of their community, the organisation aims to spread some festive love and joy to the dogs and cats of Orange Farm who really deserve a spoil.
Donations of food, wet food, treats, bowls for food and water, parasite prevention products for ticks & fleas and special treats will all go towards Santa’s goodie bags for 200 dogs and 40 cats.
It’s not often that township pets are showered with good things. The PET animal rescue organisation understands this, and much of their work includes physically visiting townships to help and assist where they can.
This Christmas outreach goes above and beyond the work they do on a regular basis. An extra show of love to the four-legged friends who also deserve a little something from their Christmas wish-lists – they’ve been the ‘goodest’ all year!
The tunnel vision that comes along with filling up Christmas stockings can extend beyond friends and family. In this case, a doggie or kitty who rarely gets spoiled will go to bed with a full tummy and an extra treat.
Once PET has raised enough in donations, goodie bags will be assembled and handed out to four-legged friends. They’ve promised to spread the festive joy by sharing pictures of the kitties and pooches when they receive their goodies.
