The kids and four-pawed best friends who attend Funda Nenja’s weekly training program were showered with Christmas spoils!
Mpophomeni, South Africa (19 December 2025) – Funda Nenja is an animal welfare charity that does incredible work in fostering bonds between Mpophomeni’s township pets and their owners.
Through its weekly training program for kids and its community outreach, it has taught children and families how to be responsible pet owners.
On top of that, its animal welfare services are invaluable to the community. This year alone, Funda Nenja has conducted 745 home visits, delivered over 2,000 veterinary treatments, and supported 80+ children through feeding schemes.
Just in time for Christmas, the organisation was able to do something very special for the kids who pitch up weekly for training with their doggies.
“[It] was a very happy day for both the dog school learners and our team members. The learners found joy in the gifts they were showered with, while our team experienced the happiness that comes from giving to others.” shared the organisation.
Every child received a bag of dog food, a goodie bag and a beautifully wrapped shoebox or bag, packed with items kindly donated by the learners of Hands-On-Education Centre.
“Both kids and dogs will share these numerous treats given in the spirit of One Welfare.” shared the organisation.
It’s such a well-deserved spoil for the dedicated children who show up every week, rain and shine, to learn how to best care for their pets in a safe space. That education means the world. It travels back home with them where family members learn too, fostering love for animals overall.
The best thing about gift-giving day was the smiles. Every child and their dog left with their hands full and tail wagging. Win!
